Metrology Department predicted that they expect 100 mm heavy showers and thunder showers Northern, North central and Eastern provinces tonight and tomorrow.
The Meteorology Department specified that Showers or thundershowers will occur in Northern Province and in Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts. The Department added that they expect that some places would have Heavy showers above 100 mm.
On the following day Showers or thundershowers of 100 mm are expected to occur at times in the Northern, North central and Eastern provinces, while Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere of the island during the evening or night.
Also a misty conditions too could be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces during the morning.
The Department pointed out that a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday November 23, 2024. Thereafter, it is likely to intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during subsequent two days.
According to the Department the depression may intensify further and move near the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka. Therefore general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
The Meteorology Department had requested the general public to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology.
