Heavy traffic is reported in Colombo as government school teachers and principals entered Colombo in motorcades and presently gathering near the Presidential Secretariat.
Ceylon Teachers Union President Joseph Stalin earlier said the procession will enter Colombo from Galle road (starting from Moratuwa), High Level road (starting from Pannipitiya), Negombo road (from Nawaloka grounds) and Kandy road (from Kadawatha Interchange entrance) demanding the government to immediately solve the salary anomaly issue of teachers and principals.
Vehicles bearing black flags continue to enter the city triggering congestion in all main roads.
Teachers continue to stay away from online teaching for the 24th consecutive day today. Teacher-principal unions charge that discussions with the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris both failed as they were unable to give a solution to the salary anomalies of teachers and principals.
