The bail application filed by former MP Hirunika Premachandra requesting that she be released on bail pending an appeal against her prison sentence for the abduction of a youth has been fixed for hearing on July 15.
Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja fixed the hearing into the application for July 15 after it came up before the High Court today.
The Attorney General meanwhile, has filed objections in the Colombo High Court over the bail application submitted by Ms Premachandra.
The former MP was recently sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty of the abduction of a youth using a defender vehicle in the Dematagoda area on December 21, 2015.
Ms Premachandra has appealed the verdict before the Court of Appeal and the bail application has been filed requesting the Colombo High Court to release her on bail pending the conclusion of the hearing into that appeal.
