Police have launched investigations to locate a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident that left a 22-year-old soldier dead at Thambalagamuwa in Trincomalee last evening.
The incident had occurred along the Trincomalee-Ambeypussa Road when the vehicle, traveling from Trimcomalee towards Kantale, struck the victim as he was crossing the road.
The vehicle had fled after the incident while the victim succumbed after being admitted to the Koviladi Hospital.
The victim was identified as a soldier attached to the Monkey Bridge Army Camp in Trincomalee and a resident of Galthalawa, Kantale.
Thambalagamuwa Police are conducting investigations to trace the vehicle and arrest the driver.
