The Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment has set up three hotlines for migrant workers to contact regarding any issues that arise when obtaining a license to import electric vehicles.
Recently, the Cabinet approved a proposal by Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara to allow migrant workers to remit foreign exchange to Sri Lanka through legal means to import an electric vehicle. The type of vehicle will depend on the amount of foreign exchange remitted by each worker.
Migrant workers can contact the following hotlines with regard to obtaining a permit to import an electric vehicle: 0773 039, 034 0112 368 175 or 0112 582 447, the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment said.
