A housemaid who stole a pilot’s baggage at the Bandaranaike International Airport was arrested within three hours after the robbery today, Police said.
The woman who travelled in the flight from Abu Dhabi which landed at BIA had got off the flight with the pilot’s bag.
The Airline crew had realized that the baggage had gone missing later when they were trying to leave the airport.
The airport security had checked the CCTV cameras and observed the woman concealing the pilot’s bag and taking it out from the airport. Later she had got into a three-wheeler and left the area.
The three-wheel driver had been identified as a person operating around the airport.
Police had sought his assistance to track down the woman who had got herself dropped at her home in Hunupitiya, Wattala.
The 45 year old woman arrested and due to be produced in the Negombo Magistrate courts.
