Education sector trade unions including unions representing teachers and principals staged protest at the Parliament Roundabout this afternoon.
At one point during the protest, police closed the main access road to Parliament. The protest was held to coincide with the debate on the head of expenditure of the Ministry of Education, which is being held today.
The protesters made several demands, including that the authorities take steps to resolve the teacher-principal salary disparity, removing the burden of education placed on the shoulders of parents and to allocate 6% of the Budget for education.
