The protests and strikes by a range of state institutions demanding a higher salary took prominence this week. As a result tens of thousands of persons were inconvenienced. Also this week a prominent club owner known as as 'Club Wasantha' along with another person was gunned down while taking part in the opening of a tattoo studio in Athurugiriya.
