Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) filed a writ petition at Supreme Court today seeking an order to declare the decision taken by Maritimepattu Returning Officer to reject the party's nomination list for upcoming local elections is illegal and issue a fresh directive to accept the list.
The petition was filed after regional Election officials rejected the party's nomination list, citing party representatives have failed to adhere to election regulations recently. The party contested the decision and blamed administrative mishaps that caused confusion among the party officials.
Party Spokesperson M. A. Sumanthiran is to appear on behalf of the party in the case. (N. Lohathayalan)
