Some 300 protesters were pushed back to the University premises without the use of tear gas.More than 500 Policemen and the riot squad was deployed to prevent the protest march heading towards to Colombo. Eight students were arrested as the stuent group shouted and behaved in an unrully maner.
However the traffic on the Kandy – Colombo main road was interrupted for more than two hours and eventually one lane was opened by the Police.
