The 71st Death Anniversary Commemoration of Sri Lanka's first Prime Minister D.S. Senanayake was held this evening at Independence Square in Colombo.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest at the event and placed a floral tribute at the foot of the late Prime Minister’s statue.
Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, Deputy Leader of the United National Party Ruwan Wijewardene, former MP and grandson of the late PM, Rukman Senanayake and Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake were among the guests who attended the commemoration event.
