A donation of 1.6 million doses of the Sinopharm COVID vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka this morning. This is the largest such donation of the Sinopharm vaccine by the Chinese government to Sri Lanka.
Photos show the vaccine consignment being unloaded at the central vaccine store of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) this afternoon. The vaccines will be kept in storage at the store until they are dispatched to the respective areas where the vaccination programme is taking place.
The government stated that the vaccine stocks donated today will be sent to the north and east to vaccinate individuals over 30 years of age.
