The island-wide strike launched by the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) severely impacted medical services at most state-run hospitals and medical institutions today.
The GMOA launched the strike from 8.00am today (21) over seven key demands. Later in the day, the union announced that the strike will continue indefinitely since talks between GMOA representatives and Health Ministry officials that were held with the aim of resolving the issues ended without agreement.
The following scenes were captured today at the Colombo National Hospital and Dambulla District Base Hospital.
