In Pictures: Long queues as vaccination drive continues

Sri Lanka's race to vaccinate the population in the face of a third wave of COVID-19 is now in full swing in the Western Province thanks to the delivery of Russian Sputnik V and Chinese Sinopharm vaccines.

These pictures show scenes from today's vaccination programme at Sri Saranankara Maha Vidyalaya in Kindelpitiya, Horana today.

Despite the intense heat, hundreds of people queued up for hours today to get the vaccine, and there were long lines of people stretching for nearly a kilometre to the centre.

A total of 1200 persons were vaccinated today at this location with the Sinopharm vaccine, health authorities stated.
