The newly established Kesbewa Police Station was declared open this morning.
The police station fulfills a long felt need in the area as previously, 52 Grama Niladhari Divisions in both the Piliyandala and Kesbewa areas came under one police station in Piliyandala.
The newly established Kesbewa police station will cover 20 of the Grama Niladhari Divisions that previously came under the Piliyandala Police Division. Accordingly, the 20 Grama Niladhari Divisions will make up the Kesbewa Police Division.
The police station will be manned by 45 officers, including three Woman Police Constables (WPC). Inspector (IP) Malinda Abeyrathne will function as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kesbewa Police.
