The Colombo International Airport Ratmalana (CIAR) marked a new milestone yesterday (27) by recommencing scheduled international and regional flight operations after a lapse of 55 years.
Island Aviation Services Limited, wholly-owned by the Maldivian Government's Maldivian national airlines, commenced international regional flight operations between its main hub at Velana International Airport and Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana.
The inaugural flight from Velana International Airport to Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana, DHB 300, 50 seater aircraft touched down at about 9.00am and was welcomed by celebratory water cannon upon arrival.
