The Students' Union of the Sri Jayewardenepura University held a protest opposite the university premises today (2) to mark 100 days since the arrest and detention of Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) Convenor Wasantha Mudalige and other activists following a protest against the Kotelawala National Defence University Act.
The protesters called for the immediate release of the detained activists and also urged authorities to take measures to reopen universities speedily while ensuring that all COVID-19 safety measures are taken to minimise the risks to students. The protesters also called for hostel facilities to be provided to all students.
