The first sand dune track was declared open today (28) by Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
The sand dune track is situated within the port city which is named ‘Colombo dunes’ situated within a five acre area. There are three tracks which extend around two Kilometer length within the five acre area.
The Sports Minister and the Tourism Minister declared the track open by riding ATV bikes on the sand dunes.
The first ATV track on rocky mountain terrain named Colombo Mountain was created at Bulathpitiya, Maliga Tanna at Gampaha district.
Minister Ranatunga attending the event said tourism would benefit as foreigners would be attracted to such adventurous sports. He added that in the manifesto of the President’s Vistas of Splendor and Prosperity it is mentioned that such sports would improve tourism.
