Teachers gathered near the Fort railway station today (22) against the alleged move to halt teacher transfers in national schools.
Teachers of the Ceylon Teacher Services Union and the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, demanded the government to go ahead with teacher transfers in national schools.
The protestors charged that national school teacher transfers should be made sans political influence.
The Education Ministry today announced that all annual and 10-year teacher transfers in national schools’ island-wide will come into effect from April 17. Teachers of O/L and A/L classes can make special appeals if the transfer will hamper academic activities of students.
