A stock of 11,000 MT of rice from India arrived in the country on Tuesday (12).
The rice consignment under the Indian credit facility agreement was handed over to the Ministry of Trade by officials of the Indian High Commission in Colombo.
The rice stock consists of 7000 tonnes of nadu, 2000 tonnes of samba and 2000 tonnes of white raw rice.
The Ministry said once reached the ports, rice stocks will be released without delay and distributed to all Sathosa outlets. Accordingly, a kilo of nadu will be sold at Rs.110, white raw rice at Rs. 110 and a kilo of samba will be sold for Rs. 130 at Sathosa outlets.
