An Indonesian woman was arrested by the Customs Narcotics Control Unit at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on an attempt to smuggle 4.598 kg of cocaine with a street value over Rs 230 million into the country.
The a 42-year-old woman had attempted to smuggle the illegal substance by concealing it among printed books.
The woman was traveling from the Addis Ababa Airport in Ethiopia through Doha, Quatar to Sri Lanka where she was arrested at 4 p.m. last evening.
The woman along with the seized substance was handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
