Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Member of Parliament has a lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a fake news claiming that he had purchased a land in the Malabe area valued at Rs 20 million.
The fake news had been posted on a website known as Colombo Bulletin with a forged document that JVP member Sunil Watagala, Attorney at Law had certified the deed.
“We, who recognise this news as one of the bankrupt propaganda of the government that is currently failing in all sectors and being protested by the people, strongly reject this dangerous news”, the MP posted on his website.
“While recognising this as another unsuccessful attempt by the government to turn around the strong public opinion that is being built against it, we urge the people to come forward to defeat the politics behind these actions”, he said.
Mr Watagala also has denied that he certified the deed.
