External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S.Jaishankar arrived in the country at around 3.00 p.m. today after an official one-day visit to the Maldives.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affair, Dr. Jaishankar will be in the country on a two-day official visit. During this visit, the Indian External Affairs Minister is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and other dignitaries. There will be official discussions with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry as well.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is accompanied by Joint Secretary (IOR) Puneet Agrawal, Director Sandeep Kumar Bayyappu, Deputy Secretary (Sri Lanka) Nidhi Choudhary and Deputy Secretary Raghoo Puri from the Ministry of External Affairs, India.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
