An offshore oil spill response exercise was carried out off Colombo harbour with the participation of Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and MobileCorpration Team (MCT) - Japan Coast Guard (JCG) members today.
The particular exercise is mainly focused on evaluating the knowledge and practical applications of oil spill responses skills of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard which was inculcated by the MCT-JCG.
The relationship between Japan and SLCG can be traced back to the inception of the SLCG back in 2010. Since then, Japan has constantly provided assistance through JICA and JCG for the development of SLCG's capabilities in pursuit of common objectives to ensure a safe and secure marine environment.
