Jeevan Thiagarajah has been appointed as new Governor of Northern Province, replacing current Governor P.S.M. Charles, Presidential Secretariat confirmed.
Mrs Charles was appointed to the post in December 2019.
Mr Thiagarajah said he had received the letter from the Secretary nominating him to the Governor post, subject to resignation as a member of the Election Commission. He had already tendered his resignation. He was appointed to the Commission in December last year.
Mr Thiagarajah had earlier served as the head of the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA).
