A resident from Hambantota who allegedly defrauded several persons promissing them employment in Italy and Rumania has been arrested by the Hambantota police.
At least eight complaints hav been lodged by residents of Hambantota, Weeraketiya, Hungama, Ambalantota, Suriyawewa and Tissamaharamaya.
However, Police said that there were number of others who have been defrauded by collecting Rs 50,000 upwards from them.
He was in hiding with his family when some of those affected provided information to the Police leading to his arrest.
