Residents of Ganga Ihala Korale in Kandy district and Kalawana and Elapatha in Ratnapura have been issued with an early warning for landslides.
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued a level 1 alert a short while ago informing the public in the above divisional secretariat divisions and surrounding areas to be on alert as rainfall within the past 24 hours has exceeded 75mm.
“If the rain continues, be watchful for the possibility of landslides, slope failures, rock falls, cutting failures, and ground subsidence,” the warning said.
