Twelve persons whose bodies were brought to the Judicial Medical Officer's (JMO) Unit at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital yesterday (7) had died from COVID Pneumonia, JMO Samadhi Dandeniyaarachchi said.
Eleven of those post-mortem examinations were conducted yesterday while one was conducted today (8).
Seven of the deceased had died while being treated at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital while the other five individuals had died at home.
The youngest victim was a 36-year-old engineer from Pitigala while the eldest victim was a 93-year-old woman from Hapugala.
Among the victims who died at home was a 68-year-old male who was undergoing home quarantine.
