Two suspects were apprehended today (29) with 104 kg of Kerala cannabis and a three-wheeler, during a special Navy search operation in the coastal area of Vaddukoddai, Jaffna.
The operation was carried out on a road in the coastal area of Vaddukoddai by the North-western Naval Command’s SLNS Uththara and SLNS Agbo naval installations.
The cannabis were found whilst being transported in a three-wheeler whuch was stopped on suspicion.
It is reported that three sacks held fifty packets that made up the Kerala cannabis stash.
The confiscated load of cannabis is estimated to have a gross street value of more than Rs. 41 million.
The suspects being detained in this operation, aged 25 and 40 years, have been identified as residents of Madagal and Kilinochchi areas.
Along with the three-wheeler and cannabis, they were handed over to the Vaddukoddai Police for further legal action.
