Poor transportation facilities provided for railway employees has affected railway services and could inconvenience commuters, railway unions said.
General Secretary of the Locomotive Operating Engineers Union, Indika Dodangoda told Timesonline that most railway employees are facing difficulties reporting to work due to disruption of transportation due to the fuel crisis.
He said the General Manager of Railways has been informed regarding the issues and called for solutions for the issue. He said that they have also informed the matter to the Transport Minister, the Prime Minister and the President.
He warned that if a positive response is not received they would move towards strict trade union actions.
Eng Dodangoda told the Times online that as more people are using train services due to the fuel crisis the authorities must provide better service other than causing inconvenience to the commuters.
