Laugfs Gas supply has been abruptly stopped due to decision taken by the company to halt the LPG imports with immediate effect, affecting 30 percent of total consumers of domestic cooking gas.
According to company sources, the main reason for this decision was the banks' refusal to open LCs, due to the dollar scarcity in the country, and provide credit facilities for LPG imports.
The other reason was the government’s arrogance stance relating to the request made by the company to increase the LPG price in accordance with world prices and rupee depreciation, a top official of the company said.
The Laugfs Gas company is running at a loss at present and it has no alternative other that resorting to price hike, he said adding that they will discuss this matter with the President and the Prime Minister to find some redress. (BS)
