The Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill will be taken up for debate on February 17th, from 2:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m, party leaders decided today.
The House will adjourn after the presentation of the Budget on February 17 morning and meet in the afternoon to debate the Bill.
Meanwhile, a special sitting of Parliament will be held on February 14 at 9:30 a.m. for the Speaker to announce the Supreme Court determination on the petitions filed challenging the provision of the Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill.
The Bill provides for the calling of fresh nominations and the holding of elections in respect of local authorities where the elections of such local authorities have been called and postponed.
