Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s overseas travel ban has been temporarily lifted for a period of 10 days.
Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today (08) ordered the relaxing of travel restriction imposed on Mr.Rajapaksa permitting him to travel overseas from April 20 to 30.
Rajapaksa’s lawyer stated that the former PM has been invited to attend a summit in South Korea during the 10-day period.
On May 12 last year, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage imposed a travel ban on former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and MPs Namal Rajapaksa, Johnston Fernando, C.B. Ratnayake, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Sanjeewa Edirimanna, Kanchana Jayaratne, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Sampath Athukorala, Sanath Nishantha over the May 09 incidents near Temple Trees and in Galle Face Green.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
