A major fire has broken out at a factory at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone today (3) morning, Police said.
Seven fire engines have been called in to control the fire at a factory that processes waste material.
State Minister D.V. Chanaka who visited the location said that the factory has stocks of chemicals used for their work.
The fire had broken out around 4.00 a.m.
