Newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo announced today that several programs aimed at enhancing public safety will be launched alongside the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.

Upon arriving in Kandy, he paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic. Following blessings from the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Vihara, he told the media that recruitment and training in the Sri Lanka Army will continue as usual, and although there is no ongoing war, the army must be ready to contribute during natural disasters or other emergencies.
The Commander also highlighted that, like the guardian deities of the country, the Sri Lanka Army is always prepared to serve in any situation, and the army is constantly undergoing training to maintain readiness.
