A 26-year-old man has been arrested while hiding in a house in Gurunagar area in Jaffna after entering the country illegally via boat, police said.
According to Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana, the suspect who had escaped to Tamil Nadu, India in 2008 had arrived in the country on August 6 to Mannar in a fishing boat.
He said based on information received by Jaffna police, both police and health officials have arrested the suspect and placed him in quarantine. Legal action will be taken once the suspect completes quarantine.
