A man plucking Lotus flowers to be used for a herbal medicine for his son drowned in a lake in the Nawagattegama area of the Puttalam district, Police said today.
The 60 year old man had been told by a native physician to bring the flowers for the treatment while the neighbours had collected all other items for the preparation.
His 25 year old son was suffering from Epilepsy.
The man had reached the Konkadawala lake and left his bicycle in a nearby house and gone to pluck the flowers.
However, since he did not return for several hours a search operation had been carried out. His body was found stuck in the mud.
His body was retrieved and handed over to the Puttalam hospital for the postmortem.
