The suspect who sold “Mawa” with illegal tobacco substances in Thalawakele to school children was arrested and produced in courts before being released on bail, Police said today.
The Special Task Force (STF) had arrested a 46 year old at Thalawakele on Thursday (December 8) for selling 56 grams “Mawa” mixed with illegal substances to school children.
The STF officers of the Thalawakele Camp, acting on information received on a suspect selling “Mawa” along with illegal tobacco substances to school children of the Sumana Vidyalaya , was arrested in a raid on Thursday (December 8).
The suspect, had revealed that the suspect had been selling drugs targeting school children for a long period of time.
The suspect, was handed over to the Thalawakele Police for further investigation, and was released on bail after being produced in courts.
The raid was conducted by a group of officials of the STF Thalawakele Camp including Sub Inspector N. G. N. Disantha, under the guidance of the Kandy Regional Commanding Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Jayawardena.
