A 40 year old who was arrested at the Katunayake Airport for smuggling drugs from India has been placed under a seven-day detention order.
Acting upon information received by the Police Narcotic Bureau Katunayake Sub-Unit, they had conducted investigations on luggage of passengers, where they discovered 60,460 drug pills, amounting to 34 kg, hidden in hair dye packages yesterday (April 18).
The pills were discovered in the luggage of 40 year old resident of Rajawella returning from India, who was arrested and produced to the Negombo Magistrate Court.
The suspect has been placed on detention order for seven days and the Police Narcotic Bureau would be conducting further investigation.
