A man attempting to smuggle around 6.5kg of gold, in gel form valued at Rs 110 millio, into the country was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.
The suspect was a 32 year old man returning from Dubai.
The gold was in 16 capsules.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that unilateral action by the UK and other countries in imposing sanctions on certain individuals do not assist but serve to complicate the national reconciliation process underway in Sri Lanka.
