Wadduwage Manju Lalith Warna Kumara took oaths this morning before Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya as a new Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP from the Kalutara District.
Following being sworn in before the Deputy Speaker, he signed the member roll in the presence of the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake.
Mr Warna Kumara's name was gazetted by the Election Commission earlier this week to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of SLPP Kalutara District MP Mahinda Samarasinghe.
Mr Samarasinghe recently resigned from Parliament to take up his appointment as Sri Lanka's new Ambassador to the United States.
Mr Warna Kumara is next in line on the SLPP preferential vote list from the Kalutara District. He is the Chief Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in the Bulathsinhala electorate having obtained 46,361 preferential votes in the 2020 General Election.
