Many people in villages situated in low-lying areas of the Mannar District have been affected due to severe floods that have been experienced in the district in recent days, the Mannar District Disaster Management Unit stated.
Much of the severe flooding has been experienced in the Mannar and Talaimannar areas. As heavy rains are continuing, efforts are underway to evacuate residents from low-lying areas to safer places.
