Men luring people to buy weapons and robbing them arrested by STF

A spy mission of the Special Task Force (STF) to investigate a sale of a pistol, led to the arrest of four suspects at Wennappuwa on Sunday (November 6). 

 

Officials of the Organized Crime Suppression Unit II had deployed a spy, having received information of sale of a pistol, worth Rs. 250,000. The spy mission turned to be a success and the STF arrested a 40 year old in a raid at Jayaweediya Mawatha, Wennappuwa, with 12.8 g of heroin. 

 

Upon questioning the suspect, it was revealed that he and his three partners in crime faked a sale of a pistol to lure customers and rob their money. 

 

Then, the STF conducted another raid near the junction of Peter Mawatha, Wennappuwa and arrested three suspects of the ages 44 and 45, who are residents of Wennappuwa and Katuneriya, while in possession of 37 g and 990 mg. 

 

The raid was conducted by officials including Sub Inspector S. K. Kahingala, under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sagara Kulasekara.
