A heat index advisory was issued for today (April 17) with a warning that the Eastern, North-central, North-western provinces and Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Monaragala and Hambantota districts will experience a rise in temperatures.
The Department of Meteorology, issuing the warning of the heat wave, said the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to “caution level.”
The Department requests the public to stay hydrated, limit stertorous activities, and take breaks in the shade when outdoors.
Wearing light-weight and light-coloured clothing is equally recommended.
