The low-pressure region over the Southeast Bay of Bengal is predicted to intensify currently prevalent wet weather conditions across the island today (1), the Department of Meteorology noted.
Hence, showers or thundershowers are expected to persist in the Northern, North-central and Eastern Provinces.
Heavy rainfall over 100mm is possible in certain areas in the Eastern province and Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu Districts.
Meanwhile, several locations in the remaining provinces of the island will see showers or thundershowers after 1:00 pm, a Duty Meteorologist of the Met. Department said.
Moderately heavy rainfall over 75mm is due at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces along with Galle and Matara Districts.
Besides, morning showers are most likely in the Southern Province.
