Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara today called consumers to stop hoarding fuel as more queues were witnessed in several places of the country.
Addressing the media, he added that they are planning to end the fuel queues by Monday. Therefore, he urged people to be patient.
He again requested people not to wait in queues as the fuel reserves were running low.
“As the ships have arrived, we will be able to distribute fuel. The people too have a responsibility. They should adhere to the fuel limitations so we can quickly end the fuel shortage,” he said.
He added that groups that are politically aligned are creating protests and are forcefully stoping bowsers and disrupting fuel distributions. Therefore, people should take note of it and avoid it from happening.
Meanwhile, protests over shortage of gas and fuel continued in several parts of country despite attempts fresh attempts by the government restore supplies.
