Several Government offices in the Puttalam district including the branch office of the Meteorology department are underwater with more than 20,000 persons displaced, officials said.
Heavy rains from Saturday onwards have resulted in the flooding.
The Disaster Management Office said as a result of the flooding, several government officials were non-operational.
The Deputy Inspector General’s office, the Teacher Training centre are among the other state buildings under water.
