Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) expects to take legal actions against 307 individuals for disregarding regular household maintenance, which leads to definite mosquito breeding sites.
Chief Medical Officer of Health of Colombo, Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni stressed that 877 ‘red’ alerts were concurrently issued during inspections.
Dr. Wijayamuni further said that 3,505 out of 26,033 houses across Colombo, which were examined by the Medical Officers of Health of CMC and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) have been identified as possible mosquito breeding sites.
He also added that among them, mosquito larvae were found at 348 houses that further compels them to take legal action against the house owners.
