Motorbike thefts on the rise
Six motorbike thefts have been reported in Embilipitiya, Puttalam, Mount Lavinia, Kurunegala, Katugastota and Koswatte police areas during the past 24 hours, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said according to police investigation it has been revealed that organised criminal gangs and drug dependents are involved in such thefts.
Public is requested to take safety measures when parking their motorbikes.
