Non-Governmental Organizations have committed their support to the Clean Sri Lanka Program, conducted by the National People's Power government.
The support was extended during a meeting held on January 10, 2025, at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Auditorium.
The representatives of the NGOs expressed their enthusiasm for the program, describing it as a much-anticipated initiative that could have a significant impact on society.
They also requested a pre-awareness campaign to be conducted before the program's launch.
The meeting was headed by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Ms.Damayanthi Karunarathne, following a call by the National Secretariat for Non-Governmental Organizations. On behalf of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, members of the President's Special Task Force also participated in the meeting.
The meeting lasted nearly two hours, during which the Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Sunil Watagala, also attended and urged the fullest support from the NGOs for the Clean Sri Lanka Program.
Representatives from the National Union of Non-Governmental Organizations and Civil Organizations, the International Non-Governmental Organizations Collective, and independent non-governmental organizations also attended the event.
